Labor problems in the Colombian privatizationa perspective of comparison

Resumo

The article is divided into four parts. After a brief introduction, part one presents an overview of the impact of privatization on labor problems in Latin America. Its second part examines the change of policy in Colombia after 1990, which inaugurated an ambitious agenda for internationalization of the Colombian economy. It goes on to describe privatization efforts in the country, examining not only the impact of privatization on labor, but also the impact of labor on said privatization efforts. The final section presents some tentative conclusions, based on field researches carried out in Colombia, in the area of economic liberalization and its impact on labor.
