Livro Varal de Lembranças da favela da Rocinhao processo de percepção dos moradores e sua construção identitária

Resumo

The objective of this work is to investigate the production and writing process of the book “Varal de Lembranças: Histórias e Causos da Rocinha” published in 1983. The book was elaborated as a project by students of the evening course of youth and adult education – EJA, and which had as a proponent of the project, União Pró Melhoramento dos Moradores da Rocinha – UPMMR, an association of residents of the favela itself. The text narrates the origins, unknown by them, of the favela where they lived. In the process of searching for the best field methodology, the answers found and the new indications made to new interviewees affect the researchers' perception of themselves. Our proposal is to analyze the construction of an identity recognition process, with the support of anthropology in order to demonstrate that the authors at the end of the work start to recognize themselves as participants of the same social locus. Along with that, they could also be able to see themselves as political thinkers, albeit in a non-systematized way. Furthermore, this study demonstrates the possibility, based on the reading of the document, of indicating the existence of forms of “resistance” to attempts of identities impositions.
