Avaliação de desempenho em centros de responsabilidade como instrumento de controle gerencialo caso do Banco do Brasil S/A

Resumo

This research had as its object the investigation, by exploratory study, of the relation which exists between the procedures adopted by a state-owned banking enterprise for the evaluation of the performance of its branches and those methods indicated as effective in the Management Control literature. Thus, a review was made of the principal existing concepts in Management Control theory, particularly those treated in Behavioral Science, from which was created the Plan of Reference upon which the research was based. Due to the descriptive purpose of this research, one chose to employ case study, having in mind the advantages this methodology offers. Based upon data gathered in interviews by use of a questionnaire one was able to produce a description of the mechanisms used by the company studied in the performance evaluation of its branches. The results obtained permitted one to make a comparison of the nature of these results and their state with regard to the theoretical basis already presupposed and, still more, made it possible to reach certain important conclusions besides producing some recomendations and suggestions for future researchs.
