Resumo
This study examines how behavioral biases and mechanisms from behavioral economics influence purchasing decisions in the real estate market and in the custommade furniture sector in Brazil. The research combines an extensive literature review with a quantitative survey applied to 158 respondents from different regions of the country. The questionnaire investigated sociodemographic characteristics, purchase history, perceived challenges, and behavioral factors associated with consumption decisions. The results indicate that biases such as loss aversion, social influence, and anchoring effects are present in both types of purchase, although their intensity varies according to context. Statistical analyses, using association tests and a correlation method appropriate for ordinal data, revealed no significant relationship between the perceived level of difficulty in purchasing real estate and the history of acquiring custom-made furniture, contradicting the initial hypothesis. The study contributes to the literature by providing empirical evidence on how emotional and cognitive factors shape consumer behavior in high-impact financial markets, highlighting opportunities for behavioral interventions and improvements in market practices.
