Resumo

Objective – This research aimed to understand to what extent the training actions promoted or encouraged by the Office of the Solicitor General of the Union have contributed to the development of female leadership within the Office of the Solicitor General of the Union – AGU. Research Design – The research was exploratory in nature, utilizing a qualitative approach through interviews with 19 women from the Office of the Solicitor General of the Union (AGU) who currently hold or have held leadership positions in the public administration and have participated in some form of development initiative promoted or encouraged by the organization. Findings – For the interviewees, training is, to some extent, essential for the professional advancement of women through the development of female leadership, aiming to legitimize women, assist in skill development, strengthen self-confidence, provide personal satisfaction, and raise awareness about gender equality issues. Limitations – The subjective perceptions of a group of women, predominantly white and mostly residing in the capital of the country, who, meeting the criteria of 1 - being women; 2 - having undergone training promoted or encouraged by the organization; and 3 - holding or currently holding leadership positions in public administration, agreed to participate in the study as interviewees. Delimitation - The research was conducted within the scope of the Office of the Attorney General of the Union, involving 19 women who hold or have held leadership positions in public administration and have participated in some form of development initiative promoted or encouraged by the organization. Applicability – Understanding how women perceive this relationship between training initiatives and female professional advancement is of great relevance for the development of female leadership and for the discussion and formulation of training policies, based on gender equality in public administration, supported by government institutions. Originality – The uniqueness of this research is grounded in both its research subject and the methodology employed, which facilitated the understanding that training initiatives are fundamental instruments for the development of female leadership.
