Resumo

Rio de Janeiro, the colonial capital of Brazil, becomes the seat of the Portuguese Crown in 1808 and, among its transformations, it now has an art market, propitiated by foreign dealers, especially the English and French, favored by affluent consumers and information about the new aesthetic currents brought by the members of Colônia Lebreton, to integrate the School of Sciences, Arts and Crafts and later the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts, with its collection and exhibitions, and the institution of the Royal Printing, Royal Library, São João Theater and National Museum, in which paintings, sculptures, antiques and ethnographic objects of indigenous peoples were seen. The establishment of Banco do Brasil, the Real Junta de Comércio, Praça do Comércio and an insurance company, along with the legislative and regulatory apparatus, provided financial conditions and structured the market economy. In the midst of surveys in advertisements in periodicals of the National Library collection - Rio de Janeiro, the recovery of the trajectory of three works of art by Tomás Maria Hipólito Taunay, drawings to serve as the basis for lithographs, financed by subscription, contributed to the understanding of the construction of the Art Market in Rio de Janeiro in parallel with the elaboration of the object, the future, under negotiation.
