Resumo

The present dissertation presents narratives and experiences of Restorative Justice in the city of Rio de Janeiro, through the eyes of those who judge, who practice and teach about it. The starting hypothesis is that each person involved brings with them their stories and perceptions about the practices under construction, as it happens in other states of Brazil and countries of the world. To verify it, a research and review of the literature on Restorative Justice in Brazil and in the world was made. Then, the interviews were analyzed based on the script initially structured for the construction of a collection of oral history. The conclusion was that to speak about Restorative Justice is necessary to have the clarity that there is no closed definition of what it is; is a constant construction; first the experiences and facts arise. Only after then the theorizing about what to do begins. It is a powerful legal technology to change the lenses of those who work in the structure of justice, transforming those using this service directly and indirectly and impacting how we want to look at conflicts, damages, pain, hardships and how they all relate.
