Resumo

Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality among women. Early diagnosis is known to be essential for achieving better clinical outcomes. In Brazil, the growing adoption of vertical integration models in supplementary health has sparked debate about their impact on operational efficiency and quality of care. This study aims to analyze the influence of verticalization on the timeliness and accuracy of breast biopsy diagnoses in female beneficiaries of a health insurance provider in the metropolitan region of São Paulo. Results obtained from the provider’s own network were compared with those from its accredited network to identify challenges, benefits, and opportunities of both management models. The central hypothesis is that verticalization through a single integrated service structure contributes to shorter care times and better diagnostic quality due to unified management. The findings may provide insights to optimize care processes, promoting faster and more effective service for patients.
