Resumo

This work aims, based on a bibliographic review, to carry out a theoretical study on memory and its relationship with history. To establish a historiographical path that leads to the theme, the following intellectuals were researched: Jacques Le Goff, Pierre Nora, Paul Ricoeur and Michael Pollak. The study presents the trajectory of the National Confederation of Insurance Companies (CNseg) and the institutions that make up the Brazilian insurance market, with the Documentation and Memory Center as the instrument responsible for the rescue, treatment, custody, preservation, and dissemination of insurance memory in Brazil. of the Insurance Market (CEDOM), contemplating a brief reflection on memory and history, business memory and the differences and similarities between institutions of custody and document preservation. The institutional memory of CNseg and the insurance market brings together textual, audiovisual, museum pieces and a vast photographic collection, produced almost entirely by the Confederation, associated federations, and other market institutions, reflecting not only the vision of its employees and leaders, but also the importance of insurance for the country's socioeconomic development. Thus, aiming at “keeping the memory of time and chronological evolution”, as suggested by Le Goff, “as one of the important manifestations of the collective memory” of the Confederation, the study presents as a product proposal the Gallery of Presidents, when the celebration of the 70s years of CNseg.
