Fatores associados à transparência pública nos 497 municípios gaúchos

Resumo

Municipal public transparency is linked to several factors in Brazilian and international studies. This study verified the relationship between socioeconomic, political and demographic factors and the transparency index measured by the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) of the 497 municipalities of the state of Rio Grande do Sul (RS). From the application of bi and multivariate statistics, it was identified that the variables population, debt, investment, and Firjan Municipal Development Index (IFDM) present positive relations with the municipal transparency index, while unemployment and electoral turnout are negatively related to the same index. There was no relationship between the transparency index and the political competitiveness factor, the mayor’s gender, the reelection, education, gender, and income of the population. It was concluded that, in general, the factors that affect municipal public transparency in other countries do not have the same effect on the transparency of the municipalities of RS, stimulating the continuation of the study at a national level.
