Resumo

The project is an elaboration of a biography of the star Zaquia Jorge, who between the 1940s and 1950s worked at Teatro de Revista and in the films of chanchada, having played a pioneering role as an entrepreneur by creating the Madureira Theater in the neighborhood of the same name. By narrating the actress' trajectory – which was the plot of Grêmio Recreativo Escola de Samba Império Serrano and theme of the famous song “Madureira chorou” –, the text analyses issues such as female protagonism in the field of art and the culture of suburban Rio de Janeiro in the 20th century.
