Resumo
The master's thesis refers to a work in the field of studies on gender and sexuality, which aims to pay attention to the issue of the intersex body. The central focus is to deal with the environment that facilitates the emergence of a social movement for the rights of Intersex people, with the case of Brazil as the center of the debate and, with this, the work that has been carried out in relation to the dissemination of information, creation of support groups and political activism with the aim of providing new perspectives on the issue; the work uses the methodological approach of triangulation of methods, using document ethnography, oral history and digital ethnography, and is composed of three chapters that aim, in order, to address issues relating to the nomenclature used to designate these bodies, the from the 20th century, continuing to establish the landmark of intersex activism in the 1990s in the United States of America and the influence that international activism developed during the 2000s and 2010s exerted on the emergence and mode of operation of Brazilian activism, leaving to the last chapter the practice of this activism in Brazil and its reach on social media. The empirical work is carried out through semi-structured interviews carried out during the research and the mapping of activists' speeches on social networks, also using documents and registration forms that are part of the social reality of intersex people, addressing the obstacles to public life imposed on these bodies.
