Resumo

This study reflects on the socioeconomic, cultural, and identity transformations in the Quilombola Community of Pontinha, in Paraopeba (MG), resulting from the Brumadinho sociotechnical disaster and the subsequent implementation of the Income Transfer Program (PTR). Using a multidisciplinary approach that combines journalistic practices with the oral history method, the research examined how the injection of capital (exceeding R$ 58 million during the studied period) impacted the daily life of a historically vulnerable territory, whose primary sources of subsistence – such as the extraction of the minhocuçu (giant earthworm) – were rendered unfeasible by the environmental crime. The final product of this work is the documentary "Pontinha da Pontinha," which records the narratives of six key interlocutors, revealing a landscape of tension between the pursuit of individual autonomy and the preservation of a sense of community. The results indicate that while the PTR promoted dignity and citizenship, it also accelerated processes of urbanization and individualization, manifested in the proliferation of walls and the intensive use of digital technologies, challenging the community to renegotiate its traditions in the face of a new reality of consumption and political visibility.
