Resumo

This dissertation is the result of a research about the university extension and it is part of the debate about the crisis of the universities, in particular to the Brazilian Public Universities. The crisis is located primarily in a historical perspective, noting is to show especially the movement that the universities were in search of their autonomy, where as a vision of approximation to the understanding of ideological positions and the relationship between Universities and Society-State in each historical era. It is located, in this context, at the division between teaching, research and extension, placed as the tripod fundamental and model for university activities and the legal aspects governing the economic activities of the extension. The procedures theoretical-methodological are defined from the analysis of the speech, trying to understand the material and ideological conditions of the teachers who are working or not in extension activities. It is concluded from the analysis carried out that the current manifestation of the crisis of public brazilian university has its roots in historical relations, that is, therefore, only product of shares currently held. Its concrete manifestation is, today, in practice extensionist, a definition given by the Forum of Pro-Rectors of Extension of Public Universities (FORPROEX), which puts all the types of actions in the same arena technical and policy. By Adding this definition to the reported decoupling of the feet of the tripod university, ideological positions antagonistic does not manage to live and the crisis develops, bringing to the surface characteristics discriminatory and lack of identity. This confrontation, by order and often silent, contributes to a university extension does not manage to achieve their goals.
