Resumo

This article analyzes the 18th Indoor Air Conference, held in Honolulu, United States, focusing on the challenges of implementing Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) policies and technologies and the potential dialogue with researchers from the Social Sciences field. Although the Covid-19 pandemic has driven significant investments in technologies, infrastructure, and public policies, the sustainability of these initiatives emerged as a central concern of the event. Through participant observation, it was possible to identify the gap of theoretical and methodological perspectives from Social Sciences in the discussions promoted during the conference. The article argues that consolidating the “Indoor Air Revolution” initiated during the pandemic requires more than technological advances but the effective incorporation of community engagement-based research methodologies and the accumulated knowledge from the Humanities, which are fundamental to understanding and overcoming the implementation barriers identified at the event.
