Resumo

Purpose: In a context marked by the dehumanizing radicalization of the global colonial/racial matrix, action research seeks to create conditions for the mobilization of insurgent practices within the organization–academy nexus, while examining how, and to what extent, BB Black Power, a racial affinity group self-organized by Black and Indigenous employees at Banco do Brazil, practices critical action-learning capable of tensioning racial and onto-epistemic hierarchies reproduced by the organization and academia. Design/methodology/approach: The investigation combines Black Emancipatory Action Research (BEAR) and Critical Action Research (CAR) through a reflexive stance that recognizes the researcher’s role as an outsider within the reproduction of hierarchies and meanings. The results and processes were generated within the organization–academy nexus through continuous interaction with the collective and analyzed from a transmodern decolonial perspective, understanding research as a social, political, and emancipatory practice. Findings: BB Black Power develops insurgent learning practices that challenge while reproducing hegemonic managerial rationality and tension racial hierarchies and coloniality in the organizationacademia nexus. The collective mobilizes memory, affection, solidarity, horizontality, and situated knowledge to strengthen institutional anti-racism and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) from a decolonizing perspective, repositioning racialized people as legitimate producers of knowledge and organizational transformation. Research limitations/implications: The study embraces a transmodern decolonial perspective that attempts to go beyond reproductive systems of the colonial/racial matrix and incorporates contextual specificities to generate and share actionable knowledge focused on confronting racial hierarchies without necessarily producing universalist generalizations that can obstruct the creation of spaces for critical learning, corporeal-political agency, and production of knowledge and research within and outside the organization-academia nexus. Practical and social implications: The study reinforces the need for practices, theories, and methods that destabilize racial hierarchies and for ongoing ethical, political, and collective interventions, highlighting that learning and resistance are inseparable. Originality/value: The research shows how racial affinity groups can operate as living laboratories of antiracist management, offering decolonial alternatives to Eurocentric managerial rationality.
