Resumo

This research sought to investigate, from the perspective of an Indigenous affairs manager, whether the Territorial Management Plan (PGTA) in Timbira lands aligns with the guidelines established by the National Policy for Territorial and Environmental Management in Indigenous Lands (PNGATI), based on a case study of the Krikati Indigenous Land in Maranhão. The PNGATI defines the guidelines for the autonomous management of traditional territories, promoting the protection, recovery, and sustainable use of their resources. To carry out this study, a document analysis was conducted to assess the compatibility between the Timbira PGTA and the PNGATI. This examination was based on the articulation of these guidelines with my professional experience and the perceptions consolidated after years of working in the field (Becker, 1976; 1999). After noting the limitations of the Timbira Territorial and Environmental Management Plan (PGTA Timbira), which was not fully aligned with the National Policy for the Management of Indigenous Lands (PNMATI), I developed a booklet entitled "Paths of Listening: Participatory Methodology for the Krikati Territorial and Environmental Management Plan". This is a proposal for intervention applied to social reality with the aim of disseminating listening strategies for indigenous peoples in order to ensure that indigenous territorial management occurs through a legally equal interaction between the Krikati, the State, and non-indigenous society.
