Análise do papel da Área de Preservação Ambiental (APAs) e da governança municipal no desenvolvimento sustentável

Resumo

In the current scenario, environmental preservation and sustainable development are unavoidable in the face of global challenges such as environmental degradation, climate change, and biodiversity loss. In Brazil, a country with extensive ecosystem diversity and socio-environmental challenges, effective management of Environmental Protection Areas (EPAs) and the promotion of sustainable municipal governance are essential for ensuring the conservation of natural resources and the well-being of local communities. Based on the concepts of Institutional Arrangements, this study investigates the role of APAs and municipal governance in sustainable development in the southern regions of Pernambuco and northern Alagoas. The analysis includes the use of the Municipal Governance Index (MGI) from the Federal Council of Administration (CFA), a tool that assesses the quality of public management regarding municipal administration. The aim is to conduct a literature review on the impact of the interaction between EPA management and municipal governance on sustainable development, with the following specific objectives: to understand the relevance of EPAs for sustainable development, evaluate the role of municipal governance, analyze the relationship between governance and sustainable development, and identify challenges and opportunities for the effective integration of these elements. The research is justified by the need to understand how the interaction between EPA management and municipal governance can influence environmental, economic, and social sustainability, particularly in the studied regions.
