Resumo

Community philanthropy comprises a social investment effort aimed at boosting territorial and community development in a sustainable way based on the involvement of various actors and local leaders, favoring the strengthening of social capital and trust. The COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated the fragility of the country's institutional tissue, as well as, in this situation, the readiness, capillarity and lightness for action of civil society organizations. The present work aims to analyze, in the context of the pandemic the theme of community philanthropy, through an organization representative of the sector, the Tabôa Institute, located in southern Bahia, the effects of this circumstance, the functioning of the organization and lessons learned. For this, a qualitative research was carried out, of descriptive exploratory nature and a simple case study design. It was conducted through extensive documentary analysis and a set of 25 semistructured interviews with stakeholders of the organization (collaborators, community, partners and investors) and experts on the subject. As a result, the relevance and efficiency of the organization in the continuity of its activities was evidenced, especially for the community in the face of the phenomenon, as well as the care that needs to be observed, from now on.
