Resumo
This article aims at an analysis of the formation and characteristics of the Brazilian pattern of State intervention in the social area, particularly as concern, the period after 1964, when the system of social protection was consolidated in the country, through the definition of centralized apparatus for official social intervention. The analysis comprises abo the principles and mechanisms through which the pattern is operated, as well as the funds and financial resources that monetarily came to support social policies. To that effect, the author examines studies already completed in the country, with a view at stressing the specific character of our model of Welfare State without, however, claiming to have thoroughly surveyed the existing literature on the subject.
