Resumo
The author proposes a comprehension of CPC (Centro Popular de Cultura - Popular Center of Culture) in its historical dimension, that is, referring it to the specific conjuncture in which it appeared and registered its political presence, .acting close to the Brazilian Communist Party, in such a way that it mobilized the several sectors of society in real pre-revolutionary climax. It also emphasizes that the notion of "revolutionary popular culture", although being subject to criticism, is a seed of cultural renovation once it places, as a center of discussion, the question of the national popular and of the relation of culture and politics. In this way, it reinforces the role of national theater and movies as fundamental elements in symbolical production and reproduction, not only as a push to the revolutionary process which one intended to reach, but as a resistance focus in ditatorial years, after·64.
