The distribution of government expensesinformation activities

Resumo

This article stresses the need to reevaluate the division of governmental tasks in the field of generation and management of statistical data, which are of fundamental importance for knowledge about the national and regional reality. These tasks remain a governamental attribution even in countries with extensive privatization programs for public services. This particularity reenforces the importance for public administrators to reevaluate the managing structure of statistics and information systems with the objective to improve their replies to users by increasing articulations between institutions that produce statistical data in the different governmental spheres.
