Resumo
The offer of sex in public places in Uruguay has been legal since 2002. The law establishes rights and obligations that are not met. The failure to comply with the law enabled a group of neighbors from two neighborhoods in Montevideo to organize to expel transgender women who offer sexual services from the doors of their homes. In this work you will realize the narratives that this group constructed and how these were based on breaches of the law. The gap between what all the groups involved should do and what they actually practiced is explained analytically based on the concept of illegalisms, which is also extremely useful to account for how certain spaces are (re)produced outside the regulatory framework.
