Resumo
The article argues that, in face of the profound changes taking place on the international arena, Brazil has a new opportunity to think about and define its place in the world. It proposes that, in order to occupy a place of greater relevance, the country must affirm a greater ambition, which presupposes the construction of its own autonomy. In order for this to happen, it is necessary to deepen the knowledge we have about the various international issues. The article defends the idea that it would be useful for Brazil to deepen its mastery and proximity with three interrelated thematic universes: the Middle East, the Arab world and the Muslim world. It provides an initial presentation of such universes before presenting an overview of the history of Brazilian foreign policy, with a special focus on the themes related to the three universes. Finally, it makes a diagnosis and offer some fundamental proposals.
