Resumo

Objective – This study aimed to analyze and compare the influence of participation in projects with agile or traditional methods on job satisfaction, perceived employability and turnover intention of project management professionals. Methodology – Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and multiple linear regression were conducted to test the proposed hypotheses, with a sample of 277 employees from public and private organizations of different sizes and sectors. Results – The results showed that the adoption of agile methods contributes positively to the satisfaction of professionals in several aspects, and also increasestheir perceived employability. The turnover intention of professionals who work with traditional projects was marginally higher when compared to professionals who work on agile projects. Finally, regression analyzes showed that perceived employability does not impact the turnover intention, which is strongly influenced by job satisfaction. Limitations – The data was obtained from a convenience sample so that the results cannot be generalized to the population of professionals who work on projects. Applicability – The results of the study showed that the adoption of agile methods contributes to employee satisfaction. It is expected, therefore, that this method of project management can be more widely used, as a way of promoting job satisfaction and reducing turnover. Contributions to society – We hope that the results of this study stimulate the debate and encourage new research regarding the adoption of agile and traditional methods. Originality – This research addresses the theme of agile project management in the Brazilian context, and evaluates its effects on satisfaction, perceived employability and turnover intention.
