Resumo
Objective: This study aims to investigate the role of digital transformation in supporting decision making processes within micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in the state of Amazonas, Brazil. It seeks to highlight the challenges, opportunities, and impacts associated with the adoption of digital technologies in these businesses. Methodology: A qualitative and exploratory approach was adopted through interviews with representatives of MSEs from various economic sectors. Data collection aimed to identify the barriers faced, perceptions regarding the use of technologies, and the results achieved through digital transformation. Results: Despite challenges like limited funding, internal resistance, poor infrastructure, and lack of training, MSEs that adopted technologies such as AI, automation, digital marketing and management systems, achieved better efficiency, reduced costs, improved service and faster strategic decisions with gains in innovation and competitiveness. Study Limitations: The research is limited to the regional reality of the state of Amazonas and is not generalizable to other Brazilian regions with different socioeconomic contexts. Additionally, the qualitative approach, while rich in detail, does not allow for broad statistical inferences. Applicability of the Study: The findings are applicable to MSE managers, public policymakers, business support organizations, and educational institutions. The presented recommendations provide input for planning digital transformation initiatives, especially in regions with low technological maturity. Contributions to Society: This study fosters digital transformation in Amazonas-based MSEs, helping reduce regional inequalities, drive local development, support job creation, and promote small business sustainability through digital inclusion. Originality The study offers a deeper look at digital transformation in the overlooked Amazonian region, proposing strategies that enrich innovation and regional development both practically and theoretically. Keywords: Digital transformation, Micro and small enterprises, Decision-making, State of Amazonas, Business competitiveness, Technological infrastructure, Innovation. Article category: Master's Dissertation.
