O lugar da cultura na proposta de internacionalização do ensino superior do Programa Unitwin Cátedras e Redes/Unesco

Resumo

The internationalization of knowledge is not a recent phenomenon, and it includes recurrent practices, such as the exchange of technologies and the mobility of foreign researchers. It is a historical and extensive subject that is the focus of attention in various fields of knowledge, among which we highlight the field of sociology of science and higher education. It is within this context that the Unitwin/Unesco Chairs and Networks Program, created in 1991, is situated, which affirmed the solidarity-based internationalization of academic research, and was structured with the aim of expanding scientific debate, especially in the southern hemisphere. To this end, it sought to recognize spaces of knowledge at an international level through the endorsement of chairs and networks. This transnational knowledge production—which is still actively in operation—was organized into 5 (five) major fields of knowledge: education, science, human and social sciences, natural sciences, and communication and information. These fields of knowledge were examined not only from disciplinary approaches, but especially from Unesco's proposal for integrated science, which valued interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary studies, enabling important discussions on sustainable development, gender studies, human rights, and intercultural dialogue. In this context, it is hypothesized that the Unitwin Program mirrors Unesco's debates, and that this proposal is reflected in the themes and sub-themes chosen by the different knowledge institutions, including those related to the broad theme of culture. This premise was evaluated based on information about entities linked to the Unitwin Program recorded in the balance reports of the years 1998, 2001, and 2003, focusing on those implemented in the first decade of the Program's operation. Emphasis is placed on the exploration of unpublished documents that mention the affiliated universities and research institutions, as well as their fields of knowledge and geographical locations (countries and continents). It is emphasized that these—and other data—could be summarized and analyzed using Data Science Analytics guidelines and the RStudio Program, with libraries specializing in graphs, charts, and text mining.
