O impacto do home office nos funcionários no período pandêmico sob as perspectivas dos gestores

Resumo
With the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic in the beginning of 2020, the home office has become the main (and, sometimes, the only) way of millions of enterprises to sustain they activities. According to a SEBRAE (2020) research, during the pandemic time, approximately 10 million of Brazilian enterprises had to interrupt provisory or permanently their activities and, from this total, 5,3 million of small business had to change the way they work because of the pandemic. Thus, the home office has gain unprecedented focus with lots of enterprises changing from physical work to a 100% remote work. To sustain the decision of the enterprises about the telecommuting work, in a post pandemic future, it is necessary to study the impact of the home office in the personal and professional life of the employees. More specifically, this paper has the goal to study how this has affected the communication between them, their mental health and their performance (quality and quantity of delivered work). In this inductive qualitative research, it was used the phenomenology approach to understand better this new rearrange of job. It was realized 14 interviews with managers selected by convenience that has started to work in the home office after the beginning of the pandemic. The conclusions were: first, the lack of definition of the future of work and the lockdown affected the mental health of employees. Second, people with less than 36 years old reported, mostly, anxiety and depression symptoms, although they were happy with the flexibility that the home office allows. Third, people with more than 36 years old reported, mostly, difficulty in adaptation to manage the team in a remote way. Fourth, it was unanimous among the interviewed that the communication between the employees in the online environment it is totally different from the communication in the offline environment and casual talks that can bring people together does not exist in the remote work. Fifth, the interviewed reported difficulty to separate the personal and professional life. Sixth, the home office requires constantly self-motivation because the employee works isolate from other coworkers: the majority of the interviewed reported that the performance was worse because of the decrease of the interpersonal relationship (communication among the teams).
