Narrativa autoritária e pressões democráticas na segurança pública e no controle do crime

Resumo

Analyzing data from homicide, police brutality and incarceration, one observe the inequality in the right to life, security and treatment before the law, which discriminates especially Blacks and young people. Criminal justice in Brazil focuses on punishment of conflicts linked to the circulation of wealth, to the detriment of institutional administration of violent conflict. The protagonism of criminal justice and the management of violence is with the military police. This leads to the proposition of theoretical questions about the quality and configuration of democracy in Brazil.
