Resumo
The following paper aims to analyze public image construction of the former president of Brazil – Juscelino Kubitschek de Oliveira – through the photojournalism of two weekly illustrated magazines of major importance during his government: Manchete and O Cruzeiro. The changes that the press suffered during the 50’s and also the political, economical and social questions (of that period) are discussed in this paper. The objective of this analysis is to perceive the role of communications in the construction of the memory fabric of Juscelino and also the image of Brazil of those years.
