Resumo
This paper surveys the recent literature that explores the relation between misallocation and credit constraints. Credit constraints affect the optimal choice of capital and the reallocation of resources between productive and unproductive individuals. This inefficiency can reduce the level of product and productivity in an economy. In this survey, I also present recent works related to the analysis and the design of public policies aimed to mitigate the inefficiencies caused by credit constraints. The government can play a role in reducing these impacts. I organize the central ideas and present the main approaches and results. My goal in this survey is to provide an overview of this literature and encourage future research into new issues.
