Resumo

The privileged space, in recent years occupied by the concept of intuition as concerns the contemporary managerial thought, has not been accompanied by an intellectual effort toward a deeper investigation of the nature of decisions taken under its inspiration. This article examines the treatment given to intuition in different areas of knowledge, being its conclusion that the difficulty of a critical approach to said concept by the administration results from an attempt at minimizing the destructive consequences that the notion of ambiguity and complexity - inherent to the idea of intuition - represents to the contemporary managerial theory, that remains markedly influenced by the rational/analytical paradigm supporting classical models of decision-making. The authors draw attention to the snares of an apparently innovative argumentation intended to valorize intuition but which, in reality and due to its ingrained superficiality, docs nothing more than to reaffirm prevailing managerial values.
