Influência da EUDR nas práticas socioambientais na cadeia de suprimentos da soja no Brasilum estudo de caso múltiplo

Resumo

The European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) represents a significant regulatory policy aimed at promoting sustainable practices within global supply chains, with a particular focus on the socio-environmental traceability of products. This study examines how the EUDR is influencing socio-environmental practices in the soybean supply chain in Brazil, one of the world's largest soybean exporters. The adopted methodology was a multiple case study involving different trading companies operating in the Brazilian market. It was found that although the EUDR has motivated an increase in the adoption of socio-environmental practices, there are significant challenges related to the effective implementation of these practices. Companies tend to focus on the minimum compliance with regulatory requirements. Regarding the implementation of the socio-environmental practices proposed by the EUDR, a diversity of approaches is observed among the companies, ranging from well-structured and integrated programs to more isolated and less impactful initiatives. Based on these results, it is proposed that more consistent and integrated actions be adopted, aiming not only to meet regulatory requirements but also to promote a real transformation in the sustainability of the soybean supply chain in Brazil.
