Inequality as a constraint on growth in Latin America

Resumo

This paper analyzes various ways in which inequality affects and restricts economic growth in Latin America. The weight of inequality is shown in econometric terms, and several relationships between inadequate educational performance, high inequality, and slow growth in Latin America are established. The paper focuses on the different ways in which low inequality can stimulate growth. lt extracts conclusions from the comparative experiences in Latin America and East Asia. which, contrary to conventional wisdom, show that inequality in income and education has a negative impact on economic growth.
