Resumo
Objective – To identify implications on the mental health of the so called mid-level bureaucrats, professionals responsible for executions in the public administration, within the scope of the Ministry of Health during the pandemic of the new coronavirus (COVID-19).
Methodology – This is a qualitative research, using content analysis. Data were collected from a semi-structured questionnaire, through an online form, with qualified respondents. Results – The results demonstrate that Middle-Echelon Bureaucrats who worked in the
Ministry of Health during the COVID-19 pandemic had their mental health affected to a lesser or greater degree. These reported having been affected by feelings of fear, insecurity and anxiety, given the fact that they are responsible for monitoring public policies, in addition to
the need to make decisions in a short period of time.
Limitations – The limitations of the method include the choice of categories of analysis, this took place within the scope of the Ministry of Health, more precisely, through the middle-level bureaucrats who worked during the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Other methodologies and
data collection techniques could have been used, but were not due to the time available to carry out the work.
Applicability of the work – The research proposes the need to implement programs of interventions in mental health, in order to alleviate the traumatic symptoms left in individuals who developed mental symptoms, severe or not. Contributions to society - The study emphasizes the relevance of caring for the mental health of the population in the face of the public health crisis at different levels of intensity and severity, during the COVID-19 pandemic. It also focuses on those professionals who are developing public policies of a general nature. Originality – The research highlighted the consequences on the mental health of bureaucrats during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially professionals who develop actions aimed at
 citizens.
