Impacto social em pautacomo o jornalismo digital constrói a cobertura sobre a educação básica no Brasil

Resumo

This study examines the journalistic coverage of Basic Education in Brazil produced by digital news portals between 2020 and 2024, aiming to analyse the dominant frames, agendas, and actors mobilised by online journalism. The research adopts a qualitative approach guided by quantitative prioritisation, employing discourse and framing analysis applied to a corpus of news articles collected through a media monitoring platform. The findings indicate a coverage pattern that is largely nationalised and institutionalised, structured around logics of public service, crisis management, and political conflict, with strong emphasis on themes such as the National Upper Secondary Education Examination (Enem), education financing, policy reforms, and the actions of the Ministry of Education. Basic Education tends to gain media visibility primarily in moments of heightened newsworthiness, while pedagogical practices and everyday school experiences remain marginalised within the journalistic narrative. Drawing on public sphere theory and media framing studies, the research discusses the implications of this coverage pattern for the quality of public debate and for the democratic role of education journalism in the contemporary digital environment.
