Formulation of a policy of technical higher education institutionsthe case of the University of Brasilia

Resumo

To submit to consideration a few points on the ethical components involved in the rendering of services and also on the guidelines which should orient its practice by academic institutions is the purpose of the present article. The rendering of services by the universities, the authors suggest should be lead by the following assumptions: returns for the institutions rendering the services, increased opportunities for action and assistance in solving community problems. From such a viewpoint, the higher teaching institution should not function as a private advisory enterprise, applied to the collection of funds from outside, without any concern as to the resulting benefits. It is important that teaching institutions have access to supplementary financial resources, inclusively for a better remuneration of their teachers, inasmuch as the rendering of services is conditioned to the development of their human resources.
