Esquina editoraa arte da escrita para além do jornal Lampião (1978-1981)

Resumo

This work aims to identify and present the collected works of Esquina Publishing Company between 1978 and 1981, during the period of Brazilian military dictatorship. Famous for being the publishing company of one of the most popular alternative newspapers, the Lampião da Esquina, we show that Esquinas’s work was important beyond its main newspaper. We conducted a long documentary and oral research aimed at the historical reconstruction of the publisher, in search of identifying its launch catalog, its administrative routine, the reading public, in addition to mapping the political and economic challenges of being an opposition publisher. We intend to show that Esquina was more than political opposition; it was the first publishing company to provide a voice to the homosexual community and explore issues of sexuality, within a period where the political regime and society stigmatized homosexual experiences.
