Environmental management of river basinthe experience of Região dos Lagos

Resumo

This paper intends to discuss about environmental management of river basin that contrihute to Araruama anJ Saquarema's lagoon, from 1986 to 1990. The activities have followed an environmental system approach, focusing the use of the river basin as a unit of management suport. To achieve sucess it's necessary the interaction among different institutions and experts, without the influences of political parties. This last item is very important considering that all kind of local social groups and public administrations (federal state and municipality) are envolved. This text wants to show the result of the work conected with ecosystem rehabilitation, prevention against future environmental degradation and changes on the social behavior to improve the eficacy of the natural resource use.
