Entre a cruz e a espadaas tensões do conservadorismo brasileiro e a política de não ficar sem políticos

Resumo

This dissertation addresses the relationship between Bolsonarism and those individuals who identify as conservatives in Brazil's political landscape. The focus of the study is to investigate the disagreements and discontinuities that exist between these two political factions, as well as the impact of the country's intellectual elite on the formation of the new Brazilian right. The Bolsonarist movement, which has formed around the figure of Jair Bolsonaro, synthesizes elements of populism, nationalism, authoritarianism, and notably, moralism, and is often juxtaposed with the country's traditional conservatism. The research will be conducted in three stages: initially, there will be an exploration of the relevant ideological concepts; subsequently, the evolution of the right in Brazil will be addressed; and, finally, a case study will be carried out to empirically assess the observations made. The aim is to deepen the understanding of the dynamics, especially the tensions, that exist between Bolsonarism and traditional Brazilian conservatism.
