Resumo
This study aims to define the minimum modulus of cattle culture to pasture and to evaluate the effect of support capacity and arroba price (unit of weight corresponding to 33 pounds) for cows and oxen and to propose a methodology to calculate the minimum module to obtain remuneration required by the cattle keeper. In order to define this minimum modulus, a computational model and software that incorporates the biological, agronomic and economic components was developed, adjusting the animal categories through technical coefficients and assumptions of the herd evolution. With the data of the simulation model, the minimum modulus for the indication of the initial number of herds (INH) and its corresponding available area of pasture (AAP) were estimated based on the calculation of the net present value (NPV) positive or zero in such a way that the removal of an animal (matrix) results in a negative NPV. The concepts of viability and economic sensitivity were used to evaluate the effect of the capacity, support and price of arroba (cow and ox), by modifying the levels of intensification of the productive system in twenty-seven scenarios. Under these conditions, the increase in support capacity of 0.5 to 1.0 and 1.5 UA ha-1, respectively, caused an increase of 26.29% and 69.74% in the initial number of matrices, and a reduction of 22.56% and 31.03% in the available pasture area. The 1% reduction in the price of arroba (cow and ox) for the different levels of intensification (low [0.5 UA ha-1], medium [1.0 UA ha-1] and high [1.5 UA ha-1]), caused, respectively, the increase of the minimum module of 12 matrices and 89 hectares, 17 matrices and 43 hectares and 30 matrices in 53 hectares of available pasture area. On the other hand, the increase of 1% in the price of arroba (cow and ox) led to the reduction of the minimum modulus, respectively, of 9 matrices and 10 hectares, 20 matrices and 82 hectares and 20 matrices in 35 hectares of available pasture area. The results showed that the computational model as well as the software and the proposed methodology allowed defining the minimum modulus of beef cattle farming operation (complete cycle) in the Center-West region of Brazil.
