Resumo

The national parks are conservation units managed by ICMBio, according to what is said in Natural Unit Conservation System Law (Sistema de Unidades de Conservação da Natureza - SNUC). The lack of financial resources is an obstacle for the national parks’ development and management. One of the solutions that has been used in the sector is to grant national parks to the private sector, along the lines of Law 8.987/1995. The SNUC foresaw the economic sustainability of conservation units as one of its main guidelines. For that, it standardized hypotheses for sharing and crossing revenues within the scope of conservation units of the Integral Protection Group (Grupo de Proteção Integral), in which national parks are included. This research’s main objective was to investigate, from SNUC Law, Article 35, how to promote economic sustainability of conservation units, through cross-subsidy in concession contracts.
