Caminhos para medir a equidade do sistema de ensinoum estudo de caso da rede pública estadual de Sergipe

Resumo

Introduction: Equity in education permeates numerous discussions within the educational debate. In the literature, different perspectives and the absence of a consensus on the concept of equity amplify the complexity associated with its theoretical and practical definition. In basic education, public policies on equity are fundamental to reducing inequalities. To address existing gaps, it is necessary to analyze equity throughout the entire school trajectory: access, treatment, and outcomes. Objective: This study aims to describe how the Sergipe state public school system, with 317 schools and 146,234 students, operationalizes and monitors equity in its documents and management systems, while proposing pathways and recommendations. Methodology: Using a qualitative methodology, the research utilized official documents and documents made available by the Sergipe State Department of Education to investigate equity as a management practice within the Sergipe state education system. Results: The analysis indicates that Sergipe does not present a clearly defined and formalized conception of justice or concept of equity within its network. Although it presents a set of initiatives to address inequalities, these initiatives are anchored in descriptive indicators and universalist goals. Conclusions: It is concluded that the Sergipe state public network operationalizes and monitors equity in a partial manner, showing progress but also gaps that limit the tackling of inequalities and, therefore, do not ensure social justice.
