Analysis of the formal structure of organizations - practical considerations

Resumo

In this article, the author - who is a professor of organization and methods (O&M) at the Fundação Getulio Vargas' EBAP - tries to cover some of the deficiencies existing in the Portuguese literature on the subject, that is, the lack of a practical directive with a view to administrative analysis of formal organizations. With such a goal in mind, he initially stresses critical areas to be detected by the administrative analyst, in which concerns the organizational framework, then suggesting several routes, capable to guiding the practical action of the O&M analyst, especially the novices.
