Análise de viabilidade da produção de carne bovina premium via confinamento

Resumo

The world scenario suggests that the meat consumption should gradually increase in the coming years. The modernization and the introduction of new technologies for beef cattle can be an option to increase the production of Brazilian meat. The confinement is an alternative to the pasture-based system, which is most common in Brazil. This technique allows the reduction of geographical space, increase the turnover of animals on the farm, increase the productivity, allows the use of substrate, reduces slaughter time, increases the quality of the final product and could improve the efficiency of the meat industry. The introduction of new technologies can have a slow economic return and the bovine confinement is not a cheap activity, so, although the ideal would be that the evolutions were constant, it is necessary to evaluate the viability of the confinement. The present project aimed to analyze the viability of a bovine confinement, from the economic point of view, in a farm that does not practice it. With the study it was possible to see that the confinement is viable in certain cases. For that, the management must be strict, and the prices practiced must be efficient. Considering the last 4 to 5 years, it is observed that the conjuncture of prices of cattle, corn and calf were not favorable to the project evaluated in the present study most of the time, which reinforces the risk of the activity and the need of efficient planning and management for the success of the activity.
