Resumo

Technological evolution has triggered significant transformations in various areas of knowledge, impacting the way information is generated, processed, and shared. In the healthcare field, one of the most relevant changes is the adoption of electronic health record systems, which consist of digital records of patients' clinical and administrative information. These systems have become increasingly common worldwide, bringing with them a series of benefits for health management and care. However, despite advances in the field, the lack of standardization and fragmentation of electronic health record systems worldwide represent significant challenges for the unification of this information. In Brazil, this issue is no different. Despite progress in the adoption of electronic health record systems, there are still challenges to be overcome for the unification of health information to become a reality in the country. Among them, the lack of standardization of systems, resistance from healthcare professionals to adopting new technologies, and inadequate investments in infrastructure and training stand out. In the specific context of the state of Goiás, the implementation of unified electronic health records represents an important milestone in the modernization and integration of local healthcare systems. However, there are still significant challenges related to data fragmentation and lack of interoperability between existing information systems. Therefore, the unification of electronic health records emerges as an essential strategy to overcome these barriers and promote an integrated view of patients' health histories. Considering this context, this research aimed to investigate the substantial changes identified by healthcare and technology managers of hospital units after the implementation of unified electronic health records in the state of Goiás. To achieve this goal, the perceived benefits, encountered difficulties, and areas that still need to evolve in this process were identified. Through this research, it is expected to contribute to the debate on the unification of electronic health records in Brazil, providing support for the adoption of practices more aligned with international best practices. Additionally, it is expected to raise awareness among healthcare professionals, sector managers, and policymakers about the importance of unifying electronic health records for improving care and reducing costs in the sector.
