Resumo
This paper is the result of a research on the participation of Adhemar de Barros, governor of São Paulo state, in the coup political action that led to the deposition of President João Goulart and the liberal-democratic regime of 1946. This is an effort to understand the relations established between the head of the São Paulo State Executive and the multinational and associated bloc organized in the IPES/IBAD complex. To these ends, the task of analyzing the organic crisis of the early 1960s and the long destabilizing process against the Goulart government (1961-1964) as central elements in explaining the end of the class collaboration arrangement established in 1930 is fundamental. Understanding the dynamics of the regime established with the military-corporate coup of 1964 requires an analysis of its institutionalization during the Castello Branco government (1964-1967). In this period, Adhemar, the protagonist political operator in the coup coalition, experiences the twilight of his career and breaks with the military dictatorship after a series of frictions in its early years.
