Resumo

The growth of multinational enterprises on the international scene has made state regulation insufficient, which has strengthened the importance of International Organizations to regulate the issue. This paper highlights the performance of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in global governance and, in particular, analyzes its Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises as recommendations jointly addressed by OECD member and non-OECD member governments to multinational corporations. The monitoring and implementation of the Guidelines is carried out by the OECD Investment Committee and the National Contact Points (NCPs). Brazil adhered to the Guidelines in 1997, established its NCP in 2003, and has sought to adapt its policies to the content of the instrument.
