A integração social e econômica dos imigrantes espanhóis no Brasil

Resumo

The objective of this article is to analyse the nature of Spanish immigration in Brazil and its rates of economic and social integration. This preliminary study shows that the land ownership was a major goal of the first generation of Spanish immigrants and by the 10SO's they were clearly a dominant force in paulista agriculture. The data also show that while the Spanish migrants of the 1910*8 had been the most endogamous of the European migrants, by the late 1930's they were moving toward intensive acculturation with the native Brazilian population.
