A influência dos recursos organizacionais na performance das aquisições

Resumo

Purpose – This study intends to analyze how the existing organizational resources influence the performance of the acquisitions, from a perspective of horizontal acquisitions among private companies operating in the basic education segment in Brazil. Design/Methodology – The applied methodology was the study of multiple cases that made
 use of the mixed approach and the data collection through semi-structured interview to the executives who participated actively in the acquisitions, besides the use of documentary source. The data were analyzed and manipulated in light of the resource-based view.
 Findings – As a result, it was possible to elucidate internal resource management strategies and organizational competencies in M&A transactions of the educational group and their positive effects on the performance of the acquisitions. Research limitations – The main limitation of the research is the fact that it was carried out with companies belonging to the same business group and a specific segment. Although the conclusions may be valid for other contexts and companies, due care should be taken in inference and applications to other businesses.
 Practical implications – The analysis of internal resources and organizational competencies is positively associated with the performance of the acquisitions and their development enables the growth and expansion of firms with a higher return for all those involved. Social implications – Every research brings to society the possibility of enriching knowledge. The present research shows the importance of the human factor and internal resources for the success of the acquisitions and for the superior performance of the firms. Originality – As far as we know, this is the first work that relates the theory of the resourcebased vision with acquisitions in the context of the Brazilian educational segment.
